The 8GB nano 5th generation is not a "good deal" in my opinion.
First, they are fragile. They are not made to last like the old 1G and 2G were.
I honestly don't see the built-in video camera as a plus. It can't take pictures and is only 0.3 MP..... 0.3!!! For the same price, you could buy a nice digital camera with 33x the resolution (10 MP).
8GB is low capacity. I own a 16 GB iPod touch - my 650 songs and 4 videos take up a total of 12 GB.
FM radio is a good concept and I like to think I'd use it, but I wouldn't. I don't listen to the radio unless my iPod is dead and I'm driving. Even then, I would far prefer my own selection of music.
If I were to buy an iPod nano, it'd be a 2nd or 3rd generation (1G is out of the question; battery lifespan will have decreased majorly since they haven't been manufactured in years). They have the longest battery lifespan, are the toughest and accomplish what I need them to. nanos are good for work, running/sports etc. not looks. I'd use a nano for the times I wouldn't want to damage my touch, simply because THEY can take the damage. No "fancy" video camera or chromatic colours necessary.
